Dea I is the first in a small collection from Hamish Blakely focusing on the form of a goddess.
Hamish's work will often bring classical style painting with a modern twist however we see here that he chooses to show a goddess bare in all its form.
Posed, almost above a cloud, we naturally want to find the gaze of this goddess. Hamish plays with this idea and denies us any direct confrontation.
The use of colour in this picture give multiple layers in the complexity of the figure in front of us, the brushwork carries this idea forward too.
We have chosen to frame this piece in a bold white frame which highlights all the boldness and subtlety Hamish has brought to the canvas.
